"Mother's have a right to say no or wait. Hearing "but you have a healthy baby" doesn't make the cesarean okay." ~ Sarina Williamson, ICAN of Greater Mankato

Mankato Area Cesarean Support

Mankato Area Babywearing

Sarina was wrapped up into natural childbirth when after 11 years became pregnant with her first child. She had a midwife and home birth planned. Everything changed at 40 weeks. Her firstborn child was born via in her eyes an unnecesarean. She felt defeated, broken and needed help. She then reached out to her birth community and was put in touch with ICAN of Seattle, where she was living at the time. The support received and encouraging words were so important to her in that stage of life and recovery. They helped her understand TOLAC and assisted in finding a doula and doctor who would help her achieve a VBAC 19 months after her cesarean.

After all that, she moved to Minnesota and saw a need for a cesarean support group. Mankato Area Cesarean Support was born. She is excited to be working with families and being able to share knowledge and information about cesarean awareness but birth as a whole. She feels that being the most informed as you can be during pregnancy, whether it’s your first or 5th, is very instrumental. Knowledge is power; it will help make the best sound decision for each individual.

She is passionate about what she believes in and tends to jump in with both feet. She and her husband have been married for 17 years in May and they have been blessed with 3 beautiful boys: Sebastian, Taggart & Gabriel, and 2 dogs. They also share the joy of her husband’s daughter who is 20 and expecting their first grandbaby.

Sarina also coordinates and runs the local babywearing group, Mankato Area Babywearers and maintains the lending library. A library of carriers that can be rented out on a monthly basis so families don't have to spend money on items or carriers that they may not like. Carriers are like a pair of jeans and fit everyone differently. She loves being able to share the love of wearing children of all ages. She wears all 3 of her children still and sees how much attention her sons need at times.

In her spare time, she likes to cook, bake, garden, research, and work part time for a local chiropractor.
